Garmin G1000: Restricted!

Urgent Notice From The Factory

From Garmin...

G1000 Aircraft Owners and Operators,

Aircraft equipped with G1000 systems must be limited to “VFR DAY ONLY” until an inspection is performed as specified below.

There are two GIA63 line replaceable units (LRU).

P/N 011-00781-00, in each Garmin G1000 system found in G1000 equipped aircraft. A possibility exists that some capacitors within the two GIA63 Integrated Avionics Units may have been installed with a reverse orientation and while unlikely, could lead to a loss of navigation. These units must be visually inspected in accordance with Garmin Service Bulletin 0418 dated 9/8/2004. This inspection affects GIA 63 units, P/N 011-00781-00, serial numbers 46901800 through 46902817.

Contact your nearest Garmin Avionics or Aircraft Dealer to have this brief inspection completed. This inspection is covered under Garmin warranty with no charge for parts and labor during the inspection of affected units.

In the case where capacitors are identified with reverse orientation, the affected unit(s) may be returned directly to Garmin for repair or exchange.
