Each Inductee Represents a Different Corner of Aviation Past, Present, and Future
The Experimental Aircraft Association recently introduced the five aviation pioneers that make up the 2025 Sport Aviation Hall of Fame class. They will be honored, as is tradition, with a dinner ceremony on November 12, 2025, at the EAA Aviation Museum’s Eagle Hangar.
This year’s inductees come from all sides of the aviation world, giving each category a moment in the spotlight. The first is Vic Syracuse, who enters the Homebuilders Hall of Fame. Syracuse is a well-known writer and served as chairman of the EAA Homebuilt Aircraft Council, making him a natural pick for the slot.
As expected, representing the International Aerobatic Club is airshow legend Rob Holland. He earned 13 straight National Unlimited Aerobatic Championships and a reputation as one of the best performers of his time before passing on April 24, 2025, at Langley Air Force Base while preparing for an upcoming performance.
On the Warbirds side is Darrel Berry, the owner of BMT Aviation and a founding member of the Ridge Runner flight team. The Vintage Aircraft Association Hall of Fame welcomes Mark Holliday, who serves as chief pilot of the Vintage Aero Flying Museum in Weld County, Colorado. Finally, the Ultralights Hall of Fame is making room for Dave Cronk. He is an ultralight designer who won the first-ever world hang gliding championship in 1975 flying his ‘Cronkite’.
“The EAA Sport Aviation Halls of Fame were established to honor the outstanding achievements of men and women in aviation who share the spirit of EAA and its community,” the organization explained. “Those inducted into the halls of fame are selected by their peers for myriad contributions made to their respective areas of aviation.”
