NBAA ‘Call To Action’ Urges Members: Contact Congress

End Government Shutdown, Restore GA Access

The National Business Aviation Association urged its members to send a clear message to Congress to quickly end the shutdown of the federal government, reverse the disproportionate restrictions on general aviation, and pass a long-term funding bill for the FAA.

NBAA encourages its members, industry stakeholders, and other interested parties to use the association’s Voter Voice resource to contact their congressional representatives using this link: NBAA Voter Voice Resource

The resource contains the following form letter which can be customized:

“The shutdown is placing tremendous strain on the nation’s air traffic control system and the FAA professionals who safeguard our airspace every day, working without pay. The FAA has started reducing flights to manage safety risks.

“General aviation is essential to American businesses, largely small and mid-sized enterprises, headquartered in small towns and rural areas that have little or no airline service. Business aircraft are used for around 15,000 relief flights each year, responding to natural disasters, transporting organs and taking cancer patients to treatment centers.

“Congress has recognized that our air traffic control system was overdue for modernization and made an important down payment on needed reforms. The shutdown now threatens that progress and jeopardizes essential initiatives to expand controller hiring, improve training and update technology and facilities,” the letter concludes.

More information about the shutdown and its impact on general and business aviation is available on the association’s website.
