Coverage Extend For The Entire Line On July 1, 2016
In an aviation industry first, Hartzell Propeller has extended the warranty on its Top Prop conversion propellers all the way through first overhaul. This is the longest warranty for propellers offered anywhere in the general aviation industry.

"As a pilot and aircraft owner myself, I know that cost is a big hurdle to the success of general aviation," said Hartzell Propeller President Joe Brown. "We are doing our part to reduce costs while at the same time promoting safety through recommended periodic maintenance."
The new warranty is effective on the entire line of Top Prop propellers delivered after July 1, 2016, at no additional cost. It further extends what was already the longest warranty program in the industry, which was three years or 1,000 hours, whichever came first.
"Clearly, this warranty extension is an expression of the confidence we have in our people and propellers. Superior quality and reliability is a reflection of the words we have lived by for nearly 100 years: Built on Honor," said Brown.
He added, "Hartzell Propeller, as an industry leader, continues to invest in reducing the cost of flying and making it safer by encouraging owners to follow the recommended TBO interval. It helps that we are reducing the concern about overhaul sticker shock. That first propeller overhaul now can be scheduled without surprises."
The new Top Prop warranty period varies based on the propeller type and utilization under Hartzell's recommended TBO intervals published in Service Letter HC-SL-61-61Y available on the Hartzell Propeller website.
Examples under the new Top Prop warranty:
- 2,3 and 4 blade Compact and Bantam Propellers, with aluminum or composite blades, up to 2,400 hours or 72 months
- 3, 4 and 5 Blade Steel Hub Turbine Propellers, with aluminum or composite blades, up to 3,000 hours or 60 months
- 4 and 5 Blade Lightweight Turbine and Raptor Propellers, with aluminum or composite blades, up to 4,000 hours or 72 months
Like the Hartzell Propeller recommended TBO, the warranty period has both a flight hour and calendar component, whichever occurs first.
