Senior Leadership Promotions Announced At Lockheed Martin

New VPs And General Managers At Skunk Works, Integrated Fighter Group

Lockheed Martin announced it has named OJ Sanchez as Vice President and General Manager of Skunk Works, and Mike Shoemaker as Vice President and General Manager of the Integrated Fighter Group. Both assumed their roles on January 13, 2025.

Sanchez succeeds John Clark, who was announced previously as the new Senior Vice President for Technology and Strategic Innovation. Shoemaker succeeds Sanchez.

Sanchez, in his new role leading Skunk Works, will drive the development and integration of technology across a range of mostly classified military programs tied to the Skunk Works philosophy of Quick, Quiet, Quality.

Sanchez had a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force as an F-22 pilot before joining the company in 2014. He was most recently the leader of the Integrated Fighter Group and successfully heralding a new era of the F-16 Fighting Falcon with the Block 70 modernization. He also partnered with the Air Force to sustain and enhance the F-22 for improved deterrence.

Greg Ulmer, President of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics said, “With threats becoming more complex, OJ is the right leader to focus our Skunk Works team on developing and integrating technologies that will secure the skies today – and maintain a competitive edge in the future.”

Leading the Integrated Fighter Group, Shoemaker will oversee the development, manufacture, and sustainment of the F-16 and F-22 programs as well as the T-50, KF-21, F-21, and F-2. He was the Vice President for the F-22 Customer Programs the past three years. He had a 35-year career in the U.S. Navy as a pilot with numerous aviation leadership roles.

Ulmer said, “Mike’s unique blend of military experience and expertise in air dominance positions him well to provide strategic direction and oversight as the leader of the Integrated Fighter Group.”

Ulmer added, “With their combined experience, OJ and Mike will work closely together – and with our broader team – to drive innovation and strategy across platforms, across Aeronautics and across the corporation.”
