Samson Sky Announces Plan For Pilot Training Program

For Non-Pilot Customers With Switchblade Flying Car Orders

Samson Sky, maker of the Switchblade flying car, announced that it plans to create a cutting-edge pilot training program for non-pilots who placed orders for its high-performance vehicle that both drives and flies. The company hopes the program will streamline experiences for customers.

Based on its reservation demographics and feedback from market surveys, the company says that up to 80% of people expressing interest in the vehicle are non-pilots. This is particularly true of the regional traveler market–those taking trips of 250-500 miles for business or pleasure or both.

The company says their survey showed about 22 million regional travelers in the U.S., and Sam Bousfield, CEO and Founder of Samson "The survey results of regional travelers showed a remarkable level of interest in purchasing a flying car, and eighty percent of those expressing interest were non-pilots."

He continued, "Based on these survey numbers, if we produced thousands of vehicles a year, we might not even scratch the surface of the demand we are seeing for a vehicle such as the Switchblade."

Samson emphasizes that the program is not exclusively for Switchblade owners and that even non-customers will be able to take the program to earn their wings.

Martha Hall Bousfield, Reservations Manager said, "Over the years, countless people have said that if we produce the Switchblade, they will get their pilot's license, telling me, 'I've been dreaming of having a flying car my whole life and I am not missing out!’”

In addition, Samson Sky R&D Chief Michael Maxwell has been a pilot for over 50 years and is a former champion glider plane racer and glider pilot instructor. He said, "Flying is in my DNA. And as an instructor, there's nothing like seeing a student pilot experience the freedom of flying."

Bousfield said that the company will collaborate with established flying schools as it lays out the plans for its own training infrastructure. He also hinted that significant groundwork is already underway.

He said, "One key portion of our program is the use of advanced flight simulators where students can master each new maneuver before going up in the air. As always, we're thinking big.”
