Congressional Candidate Claims She Was Censored At Texas Air Show

Campaign T-Shirt Was Not Allowed On The Grounds Of The Show

A candidate for U.S. Congress was denied entrance to the WBCA Stars & Stripes Air Show in Laredo, TX because she was wearing her campaign T-shirt ... and she is making charges of censorship against the organizers of the event.

Sandra Whitten is running for the Texas District 28 seat in Congress as a Republican. She will be challenging the winner of the Democratic primary being held in March ... either longtime incumbent Henry Cuellar (D) or Jessica Cisneros.

According to LMT Online, Whitten showed up at the gates of the WBCA Air Show wearing her campaign t-shirt, and was told she had to either change shirts or turn it inside out to obscure the message. Whitten has since released a video from the event, claiming censorship. "I was specifically told I could not wear my political T-shirt, " Whitten said. "This is in fact a political attack. We are completely and totally being censored. We are being told that your first amendment rights don't matter."

And she may have a point. Her video shows Cuellar supporters inside the gate wearing his t-shirts, and a subsequent post includes a photo of Cisneros at the event wearing one of her campaign t-shirts. "They are completely silencing the right. This exactly how the corruption continues," Whitten said.

The event did have a rule against politically-affiliated clothing or other attire at the event, But Whitten said when she went to take a photo of a sign stating those rules, it had been taken down.

Whitten suggested that other candidates that and their supporters may have dodged the rules by wearing the political clothing under other clothes as they entered the event.
