Hamas Document Shows Use of Paragliders In Violent Terrorist Attacks

New Translations Reveal Methods for Recent Attacks on Israel

It should be nothing more than an exciting sport... But, in late 2023, the Israel Defense Forces discovered a document in the Gaza Strip detailing a Hamas military plan. The text reveals the group’s method of using paragliders in the October 7th attack, which was a mass murder of nearly 1200 people, including 30 Americans.

After receiving the document, it was translated from Arabic to English for analysis. It shows, Fox News explains, Hamas’ deceptive plans to expand the sport and then exploit it for military use.

“This can be done using silent launch positions,” the document states, “Camouflage of military experiments and training. Reducing costs through the dual use as civilian experiments. Opening the possibility of utilizing civilian activity in other sports that can benefit military activities.”

The text clarified the steps Hamas took to normalize paraglider use in Gaza. It explained that they did civilian experiments, which they pushed on social media for greater reach. Then, they used the interaction to draw in more people, create competition, and showcase it as a “special” sport.

Their plan was carried out during the Supernova Sukkot Gathering, an open-air music festival in Southern Israel. Hamas terrorists swarmed the group, killing 364 attendees and wounding many more.

Brigadier General Amir Avivi, the founder and chairman of the Israel Defense and Security Forum, comments that paraglider terrorism is not new. "The first use of a paraglider was done by a Palestinian terrorist in 1987 in a devastating attack in the north from south Lebanon in Beit Hillel base with 6 soldiers killed and 10 soldiers injured,” he told Fox News Digital. “We have dealt with this threat for years. It’s not new and definitely Hezbollah has these capabilities. Today, we have much more advanced capabilities to detect and destroy this kind of threat.”

.As a retaliation strike, Israel sent fighter jets to destroy a depot containing the paragliders that had been used on October 7.
