Gulfstream G280 Sets City-Pair Record En Route To Dubai

Feat Pushes Aircraft’s World-Record Tally To More Than 30

Gulfstream’s super mid-sized G280 established a city-pair record en route to the 13th annual Dubai Airshow, bringing the aircraft’s records total to more than 30.

The G280’s record run started at 1723 local time Nov. 15 when the aircraft departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport with Gulfstream pilots Jason Willis and Marilyn Whicker at the controls. The aircraft flew 3,356 nautical miles, landing at Dubai World Airport 7 hours and 34 minutes after takeoff. Its average speed was Mach 0.80.

This is the second G280 city-pair record to the Middle East this year. In March, the aircraft flew from Singapore to Abu Dhabi in 7 hours and 40 minutes, cruising at Mach 0.80 for the 3,301-nm flight. “These city-pair records reinforce that the G280 can easily link Asia with the Middle East,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Gulfstream. “The all-new G280 has the longest range in its class and can easily connect Dubai to Europe and most of Africa.”

Pending approval by the U.S. National Aeronautic Association, the record will be sent to the Federation Aeronautique Internationale in Switzerland for recognition as a world record.
