Heathrow Owner Mulls UK Airport Selloff

Spanish Firm Appears To Be The Leading Suitor For Three Airports

Three UK Airports may be for sale, and a Spanish company appears to be first in line to buy Southampton, Glasgow, and Aberdeen airports by the end of the year.

According to a report appearing in Buying Business Travel, Heathrow Airport Holdings (HAH) will likely sell the three airports by the end of the year, according to several media reports. The Spanish company Ferrovial is said to be the leading suitor for the facilities, according to the UK newspaper The Scotsman.

In a statement earlier this week, HAH reportedly said "Over recent months Heathrow Airport Holdings group shareholders and management have been considering their strategic position in relation to our three airports, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton.

"As a result the group is now formally entering a sale process. While there is currently no certainty that a sale will be concluded, the group intends to work towards completing a transaction by the end of the year."
