Genesys Begins Development on 4th Axis Autopilot

HeliSAS to Receive Update for Stability, Collective, and Hover-in-Place Capability in 2023

Genesys Aerosystems has begun work on a refined and improved iteration of its HeliSAS Autopilot and Stability Augmentation System. 

The change will see the addition of a 4th axis for the autopilot, bringing Hover & Hold capability with a control for the collective. The functionality gives pilots a single-button access point to hold the aircraft in a stable, fixed-position hover. The collective control enables constant, proper speed correction where needed, allowing for truly hands-free operation with a single keypress. In addition, the system will be configured for stability engagement throughout all phases of flight from startup to shutdown, as well as automatic recovery to near-level flight attitudes at every speed. For those requiring instrument-ready flight capability, the HeliSAS will be capable of slaving itself to altitudes, indicated airspeeds, vertical speeds, ground speeds, or any navigation source.

“As part of the Moog Aircraft Segment, Genesys has been able to strengthen our research and development capability, and we are working together to bring 4th axis capability to the already full-featured HeliSAS® system” states Jamie Luster, Director of Sales and Marketing for Genesys Aerosystems.

The HeliSAS will have its pricing announced at completion of the certification and issuance of STC, expected sometime in late 2023. Once ready for market, the system will be sold through approved dealers and existing partners like Metro Aviation and XP Services on the EC145e and UH-60. Those eager to get their hands on the kit may place a preorder through their Genesys dealer.
