Just as we were getting ready to put the script to bed for this episode of Airborne, ANN's Jim Campbell got the word that the long-awaited first flight of the Bell 525 Relentless helicopter had taken place -- and it apparently went quite well.

The maiden flight of the super-medium helicopter took place at the company’s aircraft assembly center in Amarillo, Texas. Piper Aircraft has delivered the first production diesel Archer DX into Europe. The airplane went to European Aircraft Sales in Denmark. Originally launched in cooperation with Continental Motors at the Aero Friedrichshafen trade show in Germany last spring, the Archer DX has been marketed throughout Europe ever since. While our first report dealt with a diesel engine installation, Wipaire has come up with a different solution to provide more power for what’s being called the Boss Cessna 182. A factory-new Lycoming IO-580 engine conversion for the Cessna 182 used in the floatplane 182 is now available for landplanes. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
