Daher CEO Recognized For Contributions To Backcountry Aviation In U.S.

The Recreational Aviation Foundation presented Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of Daher Aircraft, with its prestigious Golden Pulaski Award during Daher’s opening press conference on the first day of the EAA AirVenture airshow and fly-in at Wittman Regional Airport (KOSH) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Chabbert was honored for his steadfast commitment and distinguished contributions in support of backcountry aviation in the U.S. Chabbert’s leadership has been instrumental in providing Kodiak 100 and 900 airlift capability to assist in RAF missions.

John J. McKenna, Jr., Chairman of the RAF said, “The Daher-built Kodiaks are extremely versatile aircraft that have enabled the RAF to deliver people and materials for remote backcountry improvement projects that otherwise would be impossible to accomplish.”

“To say that the Kodiak is a game changer is an understatement. We deeply appreciate the support of Nicolas Chabbert and Daher Aircraft in accomplishing our goals, including a notable mission to help reestablish operations the U.S. Forest Service’s Moose Creek, Idaho backcountry airstrip after a forest fire,” he added.

Daher’s support of the RAF goes back to 2003 when the company donated Kodiak airlift services to assist in moving an AmeriCorps trail crew from Missoula, Montana, to the U.S. Forest Service’s Moose Creek Airport (1U1) in Idaho to help restore the airstrip.

The same year, the Kodiak transported material and volunteers to replace fencing for the ranger station’s pack animals, and also carried loads of shingles for the guard station at the Shearer Airstrip (2U5) in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness area.

The Golden Pulaski Award is named after Edward Pulaski, a renowned Forest Service ranger who invented the Pulaski trail tool used by wildland firefighters. It honors those who display exemplary courage, resourcefulness, and service. Pulaski is remembered for saving the lives of 40 firefighters during the Great Fire of 1910.
