Woman Attending Parade Struck By Falling UAV

Aircraft Hit A Building During Pride Parade In Seattle

A 25-year-old woman was knocked unconscious Sunday after she was struck by a small drone aircraft while attending the Pride parade in downtown Seattle.

The Seattle Police Department said in a media release that the woman was in the crowd at the parade near 4th Avenue and Madison when the 18″-by-18″ drone reportedly crashed into a building and fell into the crowd, striking the woman in the head. The woman’s boyfriend caught her as she fell to the ground.

An off-duty firefighter helped treat the woman and called for police.

At the scene, one the victim’s friends handed over the damaged drone—which retails for about $1200 and weighs about 2 pounds—and provided photographs of a man who may have been piloting the aircraft.

Officers put the drone and the photographs of the suspect into evidence and are working to contact other witnesses who may have information about the suspect. Witnesses described him as an unshaven white male in his 20s, wearing a baseball cap, sunglasses, cut off shorts. He also reportedly had a noticeable tattoo of a woman somewhere on his body.
