Note From Santa: Sharp Drill Bits are Mission-Critical for Aircraft Maintenance

This Might Make A Great Gift For Your Favorite Pilot Or Mechanic

There's no little or no margin for mistakes when you're responsible for the safety of pilots, students and passengers –- all of whom are counting on you to keep their single and multi-engine aircraft in top working order. As director of maintenance at Chandler Aviation in Arizona, Mint Greninger has trained his 13-man crew to stay on top of mission-critical repairs -- everything from minor stop drilling of cracks to replacement of component air parts and re-skinning of control surfaces.

Of course, this work takes its toll on drill bits. That's why Greninger sought out the Drill Doctor drill bit sharpener to keep bits precision-sharpened -– some of which are up to two-feet long.

"The fact that Drill Doctor can sharpen or create split points is key to their precision drilling," said Greninger. "While pilots do not appreciate repair delays and we want to see them in the air doing what they love, safety is vital and having the best tools for the job is a necessity." Greninger works on Cessnas, Pipers and Beechcraft and other popular GA models. Some are air taxis. Some are flight school aircraft and some are owned and flown by private individuals – like the big Ford dealer in town.

Mint has more than 25 years of industry experience and has worked on aircraft in California, Arizona and Alaska.
