Flying Without (Fixed) Wings The European Way

The ArrowCopter Comes To America

By David Juwel

ArrowCopter is introducing the ArrowCopter AC10 Kit to the US Market. In Europe, the gyroplane has the largest share of the LSA market, where more gyroplanes are sold than all other LSA’s combined. The gyroplane is considered to be safe and economical when properly designed.

The ArrowCopter is a high-end, 2-place, tandem seat, gyroplane. High-end not because of the cost, but more so because of the quality. Quality with some sexy thrown in…not bad.

The first unit here in the United States sports a Rotax, 100hp, 912 iS engine. It can also mount a Rotax,115 hp, 914 UL engine. Unlike many US gyrocopters that use the seat as a gas tank, this unit has external wings that serve as gas tanks, landing gear and a lifting surface. The wings provide 200 lbs of lift which allows the aircraft to exceed 100 mph with less load on the rotor. The propeller is specifically designed for the aircraft and it provides 500 lbs of thrust with a Rotax 914. Unlike some US gyroplanes, this one doesn’t sport a tail wheel; they have a tailskid instead. You won’t be doing tail-first landings in this one. The ArrowCopter has a castering nose wheel so there is no need to straighten the nose wheel before landing. It also has a low CG and a wheel base of almost 8-feet, which really reduces the opportunity for rolling over, or blade strikes from accidentally tipping the machine too acutely.

The ArrowCopter is made completely of high-strength composite construction with no steel frame. It has been tested and passed the highest level of certification in Europe which is based on BCAR Section T Rules, UK. To make your purchase succeed, ArrowCopter USA, has put together a turn-key program. They are going to offer a building assistance program, which will allow you to complete the aircraft in 2-weeks. In addition to that, they will also offer flight instruction.

New aircraft, new license, new skills, a new key to adventure. Price: $150,000.
