CanWest Component Services Announces Joint Venture

Will Join With Helispares And Freedom Aero Service To Provide International Support

The president and Director of Maintenance for CanWest Component Services says the the Canadian-based Transport Canada (TC) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-approved maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company has entered into a multi-party Joint Venture with a goal of increasing CanWest's ability to service its international operator base.

"We are proud to announce that we've recently entered into a Joint Venture with both Helispares Ltd. based out of Hampshire, United Kingdom as well as with Freedom Aero Service out of Lincoln California," said Tom Jackson. "As part of the partnership, CanWest Component Services, Helispares, Ltd and Freedom Aero Service are now in a position to collaborate in order to fulfill operator's MRO requirements from three strategically located facilities in Canada, the United States and the UK."

Jackson indicates that during strategic planning activities in 2012, a key service metric for his company was its ability to provide its clients with reliable MRO services to its customers around the world.

"It became apparent that the solution was to enter into Joint Ventures with like-minded companies in a manner that expanded our service offering and geographic footprint to ensure our objectives of quality service, reliable product and efficient delivery were not only met; but improved. After performing research due diligence and numerous discussions; Helispares Ltd, Freedom Aero Services and CanWest concluded that a partnership between us addressed these requirements," Jackson explains.

"For more than 12 years, Helispares has made its mark on the industry by providing quality aircraft parts and repair management to our local and worldwide customer base," said Chris Williams, General Manager of Helispares. "The caveat to achieving success with this JV is in maintaining the high standards of quality and service traditionally associated with Helispares and our new partners while ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely service delivery. Based on the level of knowledge and experience that exists within this partnership, I am extremely confident that we will continue to meet, and exceed our customer's expectations."

Scott Durham, president of Freedom Aero Service explains that the JV with CanWest and Helispares is a perfectly aligned strategic partnership because of their similar business models and inherent ability to support customers via a diverse range of services.

Durham explained that Freedom Aero Service is an FAA- and EASA-approved  MRO support company that specializes in the repair and overhaul of aircraft components; and specifically electrical and electronic accessories and instruments; which they provide to both civil and government operators. "Operating as a team, we are now very well-positioned to address a broad range of operator MRO requirements for best-in-class services ranging from avionics and gauges to dynamic components, transmissions and gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics, airframes and structures support, scheduled inspections and much more; all from locations that allow us to best serve our customers with quality, reliable and expedited services."
