Gone West: Air Show Boss Bob Hall

Staple Of The Florida International Air Show For 30 Years

The long-time air boss of the Florida International Air Show has gone west. Bob Hall, who suffered from pancreatic cancer, passed away last week.

Television station WBBH reports that many attributed the show's success in part to Hall's leadership. The show, which donates its proceeds to charity, had been named one of the nation's 10 best by USA Today during Hall's tenure.

In 2015, slow fundraising and other considerations forced the cancellation of the show, and Bucky McQueen, a member of the show's board of directors, said Hall had been disappointed in the decision, but he worked hard to resurrect the show and was hopeful it would be back next year.

McQueen said he hopes the show will return as well, but even if it does, it won't be the same without its long-time air boss.
