Brazilian Police Ram Airplane To Prevent Takeoff

Aircraft Was Getaway Vehicle For Drug Runners

A video has popped up on the Internet taken from the back seat of a Brazilian police vehicle which shows the car ramming an airplane to prevent it from taking off. The clip has a very Hollywood action movie feel to it ... but it's real life.

YouTube Frame Capture

In the video, you can clearly see police with automatic weapons chasing and firing on an airplane reported to be carrying five members of a drug cartel along with the pilot, according to radio station WTOP in Washington, D.C.

Knowing that if the plane gets airborne they will lose the suspects and the evidence, the police vehicle races down the dirt runway, catches up with the airplane, and impacts the port side wing, spinning the aircraft around on its landing gear and making the plane unflyable.

The video ends with the agents getting out of the car, weapons drawn. The occupants of the airplane were taken into custody.
