AUVSI’s XPO21 is ON! And the ANN crew is there! The tradeshow floor opened today and continues through to Thursday...

 The event invites industry changemakers and end users to experience new technology that is solving real world problems, from safety and defense, to energy and infrastructure, business, construction, health, and the environment. The convention features keynote speakers, panel presentations, educational programs, workshops, networking opportunities, and an extensive exhibitor hall. T-Mobile and The Drone Racing League launched their first 5G enabled Drone. This is one of the first racing drones in the world to have the 5G embedded and capable of live-streaming video directly to the internet. Via T-Mobile’s 5G Network, the drone will be able to stream high definition, first person view footage live. LaunchPoint Electric Propulsion Solutions reports the successful flight trials, in collaboration with Offshore Aviation. The announcement comes three months after introducing their hybrid GenSet technology for drones. The OA-8C (ER) Dragonfly, an unmanned quadcopter aircraft, was equipped with LaunchPoint’s integrated 5.5 kW hybrid-electric HPS055 GenSet. The flight-extending technology allowed the Dragonfly’s hover endurance to increase to more than 90 minutes in 90-degree Fahrenheit ambient temperature without refueling. Forward flight and lower temperature is expected to increase endurance. Weight reported was 62lbs. empty with 13 lbs. of fuel bringing the total take off weight to 75 lbs.
