Abacus Releases PBY-5A for FSX

Have You Always Wanted To Fly The PBY?

Now available for download for FSX, the PBY Catalina has a long history of service to the military, mostly with the US Navy. During World War II, the PBY was often equipped with bombs, torpedoes, depth charges and machine guns and used as for anti-submarine warfare, reconnaissance, search and rescue and supply transport.

The PBY-5 entered production in 1940 with high power engines that made the aircraft suitable for reliable, long-range flight. The Catalina also served the military of allies including Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden. Following the war, many were converted to aerial firefighters.

Abacus' Dave Eckert and Warwick Carter have created a superb PBY-5A model in high detail with Ken Mitchell doing the instrumentation. Renowned artist Garry Smith has painstakingly delivered the PBY's liveries. And sound expert Aaron Swindle has produced a new, authentic sound set for the Cat.

This superb PBY-5A Catalina has four colorful liveries and a paint kit for those who want to add their favorites. Abacus invites customers to take the Catalina out for a free test flight to enjoy the view in this classic aircraft from a bygone era.

Fly Away Simulation also offers a selection of free flight simulator releases for users who do not wish to pay for flight simulators - these include X-Plane, FlightGear and Orbiter. The FS forums have a large user base and following, and has been serving the flight sim community for over 8 years, providing the latest free flight sim downloads and add-ons.
