Able Flight Class of 2019 To Receive Their Wings at EAA AirVenture

Ceremony Tuesday July 23rd 10:00 AM at Theater In The Woods

Able Flight’s “Class of 2019” will be honored at a wings pinning ceremony on Tuesday, July 23rd at 10:00 AM at Theater In The Woods at EAA AirVenture. Seven scholarship recipients earned their pilot certificates in the program this year, and five will be on stage to receive their pilot wings. Special guests will include Aviation Hall of Fame inductee Patty Wagstaff.

This year’s pilots include a veteran wounded in combat and three other veterans who became disabled due to accidents. The pilots will also be honored individually at the ceremony as recipients of scholarships provided by ForeFlight, Shell Aviation, Tempest Plus, Embraer and Muncie Aviation.

2019 marks the tenth year of Able Flight’s training partnership with Purdue University, and the third year with training partner The Ohio State University. Now in its 13th year of providing full-ride flight training scholarships and aviation career training scholarships, Able Flight has 71 licensed pilots, including several who have earned multiple pilot certificates.
