Cirrus Owners, Pilots, To Gather Next Year In Dayton

COPA Announces Annual Migration To The Birthplace Of Flight

The Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association says that the eighth annual Cirrus Owners and Pilots Association Migration will be in the home of powered flight, Dayton, Ohio, June 17 to 20th, 2010. Association President Curtis N. Sanford said in a letter e-mailed to ANN Sunday that by hosting the event in new city, Migration will provide a new dimension of learning and social experience.

"Why Dayton, Ohio?" Sanford writes. "In the past, we have migrated to the birthplace of our wonderful Cirrus aircraft - a place where two brothers brought a new generation of technically advanced airplanes to aviation. In 2010, we will migrate to the place where a different two brothers created the very first airplane. Dayton is also centrally located, accessible to all COPA members and has an enormous number of aviation-related attractions. This will permit COPA members to not only learn about the fascinating history of the invention of flight, but also experience it."

Dayton is the location of the Aviation Heritage National Historic Park, associated with the Wright Brothers invention of powered flight, as well as the National Museum of the United States Air Force, one of the biggest collections of military aircraft in the world. The collection includes over 300 aircraft and missiles and over 6,000 historical items that tell the story of military aviation from the days of the Wright brothers to the latest in stealth technology. Dayton is also the home of the National Aviation Hall of Fame.

Along with the historical attractions, Dayton is home to Wright Patterson Air Force Base - the headquarters for Aeronautical Systems Command which manages all new Air Force technology and new programs, and also the Aerospace Medicine Command, which includes such centers of expertise as aviation human factors and aerospace medicine. These functions provide opportunities for Cirrus to offer Migration attendees unique world-class seminars. In addition, Sanford writes, a large convention center is connected to the host hotel facilities to make this an ideal location for the Migration.

Sanford says there are a number of volunteers that will invest untold hours on your behalf to make Migration 8 a very rich, learning experience, an opportunity for fun for the entire family, and a time to socialize with fellow COPA members. Their preliminary work has already identified a need for bonus programs the day before and after Migration which will include Dayton-specific events, as well as Cirrus-specific programs. Dayton's cultural and educational assets also will allow Cirrus to offer a rich and rewarding Women's Program as well as continuing the exciting "Camp COPA" for attendee's children and grandchildren.

Cirrus Aircraft has indicated their continuing full support for Migration 8 and expects a full complement of aviation exhibitors.
