Is That A Pistol In Your Purse ... ?

Woman Makes In On To Plane With A Handgun In Her Possession

A 65-year-old woman who reportedly was allowed to board an airplane at Dallas Fort/Worth International Airport with a pistol in her purse has been charged with a state felony.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning. Reuters reports that the woman had a .38 caliber revolver tucked away in her purse. Airport police had been notified about 0600 that TSA was looking for someone who had already cleared security but required secondary screening.

The woman was on an American Airlines flight which had pushed back and was taxiing when it was called back to the gate. Authorities searched multiple terminals and airplanes before finally locating the woman at about 0800 CST. She was charged with carrying a weapon where prohibited.

In all, 10 flights were delayed an average of 20-25 minutes while the search was conducted. TSA says it finds about four firearms per day on passengers at airport checkpoints. Most say they forgot they were carrying the weapons.
