Certified: Rockwell Collins AHS-4000 For CRJ1000 NextGen Aircraft

Instrument Is Also Certified For Retrofit In CRJ700, CRJ900

Rockwell Collins announced Thursday at the 36th Annual Regional Airlines Association (RAA) Convention in Nashville, TN, that its AHS-4000 Attitude and Reference Heading System (AHRS) is now certified on the Bombardier CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft.

The AHS-4000 AHRS features a distinctive solid-state, gyro-based design that is not subject to magnetic abnormalities associated with flux valves and eliminates the need to perform compass swings. The latest generation embedded sensors ensure low power consumption and high reliability, resulting in a 50 percent improvement in Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) compared to previous generation systems.

The company says the instrument's key features include:

  • Low-power fiber-optic gyro and triple-axis MEMS accelerometers.
  • Multiple modes of operation include magnetically augmented ARINC 705 AHRS, GPS-aided or unaided free inertial.
  • Analog synchro interface provides attitude and heading reference input data.
  • Enhanced fault isolation.
  • Continuous monitoring of all functions and internal diagnostic capability.

The Rockwell Collins AHS-4000 AHRS is also certified and available as an aftermarket upgrade for CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft.
