A new entry in the EFIS arena for the Light Sport, Experimental/Amateur Built and Ultralight segment of aviation is the Glance EFIS, which was on display at Sebring in January.
Steve Cagle, Owner and Software Engineer for 2020 Avionics, told ANN CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell that the unit brings navigation, AHRS, and a basic 4-cylinder engine monitor into the cockpits of non-certified aircraft.
The system is expandable from the basic single-unit configuration to include multiple displays networked together so that pilots can increase the amount of information available to them in the cockpit. Multiple displays also gives the pilot data redundancy. Should one unit go down, the same data is available on an other display, he said.
The manufacturer of the Glance EFIS is located in the Czech Republic, but Cagle said that the units are being warehoused and delivered from the U.S., and support for U.S. customers is based domestically as well.
