AEA 2008: Organization Announces Move To New Headquarters In June

Larger Facility Needed To Accomodate Growing Staff

The Aircraft Electronics Association had a big announcement for members attending its convention this week in Washington, DC... the organization will soon be moving to larger digs near Kansas City, MO.

To meet the growing demands of a larger staff and the addition of more services and benefits to its members, AEA is in the process of building the HQ. Located near its existing headquarters office, the new, 12,000-square-foot building is next to the Lee’s Summit Regional Airport in Lee’s Summit, MO.

"We’re excited to be in a position to break ground on larger, more efficient facilities," said Paula Derks, president of AEA.

Derks said she expects a move-in date in late June of this year. "We don’t expect any delay or hindrance in services we provide to the general aviation electronics industry during this transition," she said. (Rumors the organization asked members in attendance for help with packing -- "We'll be serving pizza!" -- have not been confirmed by ANN at this time -- Ed.)

The new AEA headquarters will feature a state-of-the-art training classroom with a capacity of up to 100 people. The Association plans to offer customized training classes for members; work with AEA academic members on training classes; and allow AEA member companies to utilize the training classroom for their individual needs as well.

"AEA and its members will be in a class all their own with this new, state-of-the-art facility," said Mike Adamson, vice president of member programs and education for AEA. "We took advantage of a clean-sheet design, included all of the latest instruction technologies, and developed this classroom to be an extended campus for our members. This will play an important role in growing our instructor-led training offerings as well as our development of online training."

Effective June 21, 2008, the Association’s new address is:

Aircraft Electronics Association
3570 N.E. Ralph Powell Road
Lee’s Summit, MO 64064

The new office telephone, also effective June 21, is: 816-347-8400. The AEA plans an official grand opening celebration and open house during the AEA Central Regional Meeting from September 25-27 in Kansas City.
