NexNav Introduces Micro-i Ultra-Low Cost GPS Solution

Accord Technology Introduces Their GPS/WAAS + Integrity That Exceeds TSO-C199 Standards

Accord Technology, LLC, announced at the Aircraft Electronics Association Annual Convention, the introduction of their TSO-C199 compliant GPS source, the new NexNav Micro-i.

Leveraging their FAA approved NexNav MAX & mini GPS SBAS/WAAS product family, Accord claims their new Micro-i is the only advanced, low cost, lightweight GPS SBAS OEM solution for light and experimental aircraft, and surveillance equipment applications. Most importantly, they say, Micro-i exclusively provides TSO-C145c integrity functionality for “commercial” GPS receivers.

They say the NexNav receiver on the inside assures the GPS solution, stand-alone or OEM hosted, and has the high integrity needed for aviation operations. The low-cost GPS WAAS Micro-i, meets and exceeds GPS source requirements for new TSO-C199 Traffic Awareness Beacon System (TABS) for light aircraft without electrical systems, exempted from ADS-B Out mandate, such as gliders, balloons and other aircraft with non-certified electrical systems. The Micro-i, when combined with a TABS low-power Mode-S, enables TABS Class B platforms to be visible to other aircraft with TAS, TCAS I/II, or ADS-B IN.

“This is the perfect GPS WAAS source solution for avionics manufacturers’ targeting the glider aircraft, hot-air balloon segments and now experimental aircraft, and even the unmanned aerial systems segment,” stated Hal Adams, Chief Operating Officer for Accord Technology. “The Micro-i is another important ‘first’ for NexNav, and it expands our product line while enhancing airspace safety for very important segments of the aviation community, formally excluded from NextGen surveillance,” added Adams.

The Accord Technology NexNav GNSS product line revolves around three key receivers which are the NexNav mini, NexNav MAX and the new NexNav Micro-i. The receivers are at the heart of embedded customer solutions whether as a Circuit Card Assembly or in the Line Replacement Unit as a stand-alone GPS solution.
