Airborne 02.10.17: Craziest Drone Law?, A-10 Returns, Historic Airbus Airframes

Also: Able Flight, Barnstorming: Double Trouble, Red Bull!, ADS-B – FANS, 'The Big E', NATA Program, Teamsters Appeal

Worst drone laws ever? An examination of Hempstead, NY, drone laws reveals penalties for anyone who transports a drone through the city.

The law states that "The Town Board ... finds that the flying of these drones presents a noisy and potentially dangerous condition to the public and wildlife that may be present at Town facilities and that drone use at Town facilities is inconsistent with the establishment and maintaining of a safe and pleasing public environment.” But here’s the kicker: "The possession by any person of a UAS while on or in the vicinity of any Town of Hempstead facility creates the presumption that such UAS has been used in violation of this chapter subjecting the possessor of such UAS to all penalties provided for herein." The Aerial Events office at U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command has announced that the A-10 Warthog will be appearing at 20 or more air shows in 2017 to participate in Heritage Flight performances -- but with no aerobatic demos). It’s an oldie but a goodie! As part of its contribution to preserving aviation heritage, Airbus will be transferring four of its test aircraft to museums: the Museum of Air and Space in Paris-Le Bourget and Aeroscopia in Toulouse. These aircraft comprise: A320 MSN1, recently withdrawn from the test aircraft fleet; A340-600 MSN360; A380 MSN2 and A380 MSN4. These aircraft will benefit from heritage preservation measures and will soon be presented to the public. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
