Cessna Marks Anniversaries at 2010 AirVenture

25 Years Of The Venerable Caravan, 50 Years Of The C210

Cessna flies into the Experimental Aircraft Association’s annual week-long conference - AirVenture 2010 - with a salute to classic aircraft past and present. In addition to a static display that includes its full line of propeller aircraft and several business jets, Cessna is saluting 25 years of Caravan production and the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the famed Cessna 210.

“Even though we’ve built more general aviation aircraft than any other company in history and introduced more models than any other company, each one is very special and appropriate to mark with a bit of fanfare,” said Jack Pelton, Cessna chairman, president and CEO. “We love to mark these occasions at this show since it is the largest gathering of general aviation aircraft in the world - it is where the world’s passion and Cessna’s passion for flight come together.”

Cessna will deliver its 2,000th Caravan, a Grand Caravan, later this year to a retail customer through Cessna authorized sales representative Africair, Inc., located in Miami. The Caravan is certified in 100 countries and the fleet has amassed more than 13 million flight hours.

The Cessna Model 210 was built over the span of three decades with a total of more than 9,200 delivered. The Model 210 was built from 1960-1986, with the last few delivered in early 1987.
