Sixteen Positions Are Firm With Eight Options Worth Up To $1.12 Billion
An unnamed customer has placed a firm purchase order for 16 CRJ900 NextGen regional jets and has also taken options for eight additional airliners of the same type, according to Bombardier.
Based on the list price for the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the firm order is valued at approximately $727 million. The value could increase to $1.12 billion should the customer exercise its options.
"Bombardier's CRJ900 NextGen airliner was already recognized for the strength and reliability of its performance and as the most cost-efficient jet aircraft in its class," said Ray Jones, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Asset Management, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. "With the most recent enhancements to the aircraft, we have raised the bar on performance once again, reducing the CRJ900 NextGen airliner's fuel burn by up to 5.5 per cent compared to earlier-generation CRJ900 aircraft, and making it the ideal tool for operators to develop new markets and increase frequencies."
Including this latest order, Bombardier has recorded firm orders for 1,833 CRJ Series aircraft, including 359 CRJ900 and CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. Worldwide, CRJ Series aircraft are in service with more than 60 airlines and more than 30 customers operate corporate variants of the aircraft. The aircraft are operating in over 50 countries on six continents, and on average, a CRJ aircraft takes off every 10 seconds somewhere in the world. CRJ Series aircraft have transported more than 1.4 billion passengers and have logged more than 38 million flight hours and over 32 million takeoffs and landings.
