95 Aircraft Delivered, With 737 Taking the Lion's Share of Buisiness Once Again
The bulk of the planes delivered once again came from the 737 series, with 86 planes turned over to customers, with 5 from the increasingly aged 767. Only 3 777s were delivered, not too far off pace for a normal month at the brand.
The first quarter was not free of instability around the world, with Boeing admitting that more than 140 jet orders are now stuck in limbo due to the war in Ukraine. The manufacturer moved the planes from its active order sheet into the unknown, unsure of whether or not the contracts would eventually be completed. The orders taken off the books were mostly for Russian carriers, accounting for 138 737 Max and 12 widebody variants, with the rest formerly earmarked for the now entirely devastated Ukrainian airline industry.
International sanctions against Russia and a bevy of secondary effects have upset the aviation ecosystem in the region, rocking suppliers and cutting off valuable sources of raw materials, spiking energy prices throughout Europe, and sending the array of aircraft lessors reeling as those working with Russian carriers saw their investments..."reassigned", after their owners were effectively blocked from recovering their aircraft from the country.
Despite the bumpy situation, March saw 41 jets change hands, with 34 of the high-demand 737 delivered. Boeing still has more than 4,000 aircraft on order, so it stands in a fine position even as things stand somewhat unsteadily for a time.
