Lycoming Engines announced today the availability of kit
engines. Non-certified, experimental kit built aircraft represent
the largest growing population in the general aviation
marketplace.
Lycoming strives to offer a full line of kit engines to meet the
demands of kit builders through distributors known for their
quality workmanship. These distributors include: Aerosport Power
Ltd., Barrett Precision Engines Inc., G&N Aircraft Inc.,
Teledyne Mattituck Services and Triad Aviation.
Lycoming proposes to provide a full line of engines from 160hp
to 300hp in kit form to these shops for sale to amateur aircraft
builders. Lycoming will provide all the necessary basic components
for these engines.
A variety of engine models will be
offered including the 320, 360, 390, and 540 configurations. Also
included in the kit are the crankcase, crankshaft, connecting rods,
and Lycoming cylinder assemblies (including pistons, rings and
valves). Various combinations of accessories will be available to
complete each customer's engines.
"We have assembled a large and impressive lineup of
non-certified kit engines. We are delivering the powerplant
solution with all Lycoming parts that many home built aircraft
builders have been asking for, with many models incorporating
Lycoming's new Roller Tappet Technology, " stated Dennis Racine,
director of sales/marketing and customer leadership at Lycoming
Engines.

more value and performance than the competition."
