Corbi Air Chooses Vertical Power VP-X For Alto LSA

Electronic Circuit Breakers For Czech-Designed Sport Aircraft

The importer of Direct Fly’s Alto Light Sport Aircraft, Corbi Air has chosen the Vertical Power VP-X Electronic Circuit Breaker System to manage the electrical system and control the trim and flaps. The VP-X integrates tightly with both the Advanced Flight Systems EFIS and Dynon SkyView EFIS, allowing pilots to monitor the status of individual devices and the entire electrical system right from the EFIS.

The VP-X replaces 80-year-old thermal breaker technology with modern solid-state Electronic Circuit Breakers. ECBs can detect short circuits, over-current conditions, and open-circuit faults. ECBs are intelligent, configurable, and offer capabilities not otherwise available with old-style breakers. For example, ECBs can detect a burned out landing light or disable the starter circuit while the engine is running.

“We see Electronic Circuit Breakers made by Vertical Power as a modern alternative to the old method of mechanical circuit breakers and complicated wiring,” said Ron Corbi, President of Corbi Air, Inc. Ron and Dennis Corbi along with Dan Coffey and Paul Volle have spent considerable time and effort finding and refining the Alto for flight schools and individuals wanting a modern, well equipped, high quality, low maintenance, “fun to fly” aircraft. “Customers are asking for the latest digital avionics, and we’re always looking for compelling way to provide that capability. The VP-X makes wiring easier for us and allows us to easily offer multiple panel configurations without complicated re-wiring.”

“The VP-X offer a tremendous amount of capability at a very affordable price,” said Marc Ausman, President of Vertical Power Inc. “We’re glad to be working with Corbi Air to expand our offerings in the Light Sport Aircraft market.”
