Bombardier To Help Rebuild Iraq's Airline Industry

Holds Ceremonial Signing For CRJ900s 

Bombardier Aerospace participated in a signing ceremony in Baghdad, Iraq on May 4, 2008 to formally recognize two recent orders placed by the Government of Iraq. The firm orders were announced on March 13 and April 14, 2008 for a total of 10 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft. The Government of Iraq also holds options on an additional 10 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft.

The Government of Iraq's delegation at the ceremony was led by Prime Minister, Nouri Al-Maliki, and included key ministers and advisors. Margaret Huber, Canada's Ambassador to Iraq was also present.

"Bombardier is a world leader in the supply of commercial and business aircraft, as well as rail transportation," said Bombardier Commercial Aircraft's president, Gary R. Scott. "Among our transportation solutions is the CRJ900 NextGen -- the aircraft purchased by the Government of Iraq and the choice of leading regional operators around the world. More than 1,500 CRJ Series regional aircraft have been delivered to customers around the world."

Based on the list price for the CRJ900 NextGen aircraft, the previously announced orders are valued at approximately $398 million U.S. If all ten options are exercised, the value of the contract could rise to approximately $812 million US.

As ANN reported earlier, Boeing also received orders from the Iraqi government for 30 737-800s, and anticipates orders for 10 787 Dreamliners.
