FAA Issues Safety Warning To Pilots Flying Over Los Gatos Gun Range

Concerns Raised About Low-Flying Aircraft In The Area Of The Gun Club

The FAA is warning pilots who fly over the Santa Cruz mountains in Los Gatos, CA that there is a gun club in the area, and they should stay above 500 feet when in that airspace.

The Los Altos Rod and Gun Club shooting range is located in the Santa Cruz Mountains off Skyline Boulevard in Los Gatos, according to a report form television station KRON. The FAA told the station that the alert was issued because of reports of low-flying aircraft in the area.

The shooting range is located in a high elevation in a remote area of the mountains. It's been there over 60 years, according to manager John Carlsen. He told the station that there have been about a dozen incidents involving low-flying aircraft in the past year.
