KleinVision Flying Car Carries First Passenger

KleinVision AirCar Carries First Passenger

In a somewhat modest but historic moment for aviation and transportation, Jean-Michel Jarre, the iconic electronic music composer, took to the skies as the first-ever passenger in KleinVision's flying AirCar.

This flight occurred at Piestany international airport in Slovakia and marks a pivotal step toward integrating airborne capabilities into everyday vehicle use. The AirCar, which transitioned from automotive to aviation functionality seamlessly, has achieved significant milestones since receiving its Certificate of Airworthiness in January 2022, including over 130 flight hours and more than 520 takeoffs.

Jarre, who described the experience as akin to being in a real-life Jules Verne novel, will feature the AirCar in his upcoming Starmus Festival opening concert, 'The Bridge from the Future.' This festival, which celebrates connections between art and science, will see the AirCar displayed at the Starmus Camp, highlighting the blend of technology and creativity. The event will also feature notable figures like astrophysicist Garik Israelian, astronaut Chris Hadfield, and primatologist Jane Goodall, alongside other Nobel laureates.

Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Todd Douglas Miller captured Jarre's flights, noting the surreal and groundbreaking nature of the AirCar. Stefan Klein, the inventor and a pilot of the AirCar, expressed pride in this achievement, emphasizing the transition from dreams to reality. Anton Zajac, co-founder of KleinVision and ESET, also remarked on the AirCar's potential to revolutionize personal and public transportation by bridging the gap between road and sky travel.
