Falcon Lake is a part of the aquatic US-Mexico border south of
San Antonio, TX. Eyewitness accounts and photos from the
Zapata County Sheriff's Office match the Mi-17 helos used by the
Mexican Navy.
"It's always been said that the Mexican military does in fact
... that there have been incursions," Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez
told the San Antonio Express-News. "But this is not New Mexico or
Arizona. Here we've got a river; there's a boundary line. And then
of course having Falcon Lake, Falcon Dam, it's a lot wider. It's
not just a trickle of a river, it's an actual dam. You know where
the boundary's at."

An unauthorized incursion would be handled by the US Northern
Command (NORTHCOM) in Colorado Springs, CO. NORTHCOM has a Mexican
military liaison that would keep them apprised of any planned
action or accidental incidents.
The Sheriff's office believes the chopper may have been was
looking for the home of a member of a drug cartel. "My
understanding is the U.S. military were informed," said Sherif
Gonzalez. "I don't know what action was taken, if any."
