RCGroups Brings Vertical Online Forum Under Its Umbrella
The online RC forum RCGroups.com has acquired the helicopter-focused forum HeliFreak.com for an undisclosed sum.
RCGroups.com administrator Jim Graham said in an article posted to the site that the transition should be transparent to the users of the HeliFreak site. "HeliFreak is the largest RC Heli forum in the world and the third largest RC forum," he wrote. "We just wanted to inform you of this acquisition but things will largely go unchanged for you other than the addition of a more robust user and community base. We're thrilled to welcome the Helifreak community to the RCGroups family and we are working closely with the site creator for a smooth transition."
"We’re thrilled to announce today’s acquisition,” said Jim Bourke, owner of RCGroups. "We have been looking at HeliFreak.com for awhile and thought it would make a great addition to our umbrella of sites. We look forward to embracing and working with the great community already established at HeliFreak and it’s our hope to make any improvements we can to the site and make it a great user experience."
"This was a difficult decision for me to sell the site I had worked on since 2004 but I couldn’t be happier to let it go to a better team than the people at RCGroups,” said Will James, Founder of HeliFreak. "I want to thank the community and moderators for helping grow and making HeliFreak what it is today. The site is in great hands with RCGroups and I look forward to seeing the site grow and expand in the upcoming future."
