Something To Look Forward To -- 2020 Outdoor Nats to Proceed

Premier Model Aviation Event Is A "Go"

We've been reporting on cancellation after cancellation... so it's an uncommon pleasure to report that a major aviation event, albeit a model aviation event, is set to proceed as planned.

After careful deliberation, the AMA Executive Council has agreed to not cancel the 2020 Outdoor Nats. This decision is aligned with state and federal guidelines for events concerning COVID-19.

The 2020 AMA Nats will take place to the extent that individual Nats organizers plan and conduct their respective events. Additional safety measures will be in place to protect our members, staff, and community. Nats participants and visitors to the International Aeromdeling Center will have limited access to AMA facilities and should anticipate a scaled-back Nats experience.

  • RC Scale Aerobatics (IMAC): July 12-15
  • RC Pylon: July 12-18
  • Control Line: July 12-18
  • CL/RC Scale: July 16-19
  • RC Aerobatics (Pattern): July 19-23
  • RC Soaring: July 23-August 2
  • RC Combat: July 24-26
  • Outdoor Free Flight: July 27-31
  • RC Helicopter: August 2-5

The International Aeromodeling Center (IAC) is located in Muncie, Indiana off Highway 67. Members are encouraged to tour the AMA Headquarters, the National Model Aviation Museum, and enjoy the International Flying Site. This beautiful 1000 acre site features flying facilities for all forms of aeromodeling. Specially prepared areas for Control Line Aerobatics, Racing, Speed, and Combat feature eight asphalt circles and nine grass circles. The Speed/Racing complex has permanent speed pylons and safety netting surrounding the area. Speed pylons may be checked out by AMA members from the AMA Headquarters.
