Top Cub Gets OK For Mogas

Auto Fuel STC Approved By FAA

CubCrafters has received a new STC for their part-23 certified Top Cub. The auto fuel STC is available from Petersen Aviation and is approved for all CC18-180/CC18-180A aircraft. It provides you with the paperwork and placards required by the FAA to make it all legal. An IA mechanic must “install” the STC by adding the new fuel and engine placards and then fills out a log book entry and form 337. The whole process takes approximately 30 minutes.

No additional modification is required. The STC allows the use of ethanol-free fuel with a minimum octane rating of 91. Installing the auto fuel STC does not mean only auto fuel can be used. Avgas can still be used and it can be mixed with auto fuel if you wish.

CubCrafters’ Owner and Chairman, Jim Richmond comments “The auto fuel option will open up even more remote destinations that, until now, have been inaccessible because of the lack of easy access to fuel. In addition, it will let Top Cub pilots keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets.”

Along with the auto fuel STC, the Top Cub can be ordered with optional tundra tires (up to 35”), L-21 style windows, skis and amphibious floats, along with belly pods to further increase fuel and cargo capacity. In fact, the Top Cub is an ideal choice for any adventure-seeking pilot, as the same capabilities that lend themselves to exploring the Alaskan wilderness make it great for camping, fishing and hunting expeditions and cross-country sight-seeing.
