Air Force Trainer Down Near San Antonio, TX

Student And Instructor Sustain Minor Injuries

An Air Force T-6A training aircraft went down Tuesday near the Rolling Oaks Mall near San Antonio, TX, but both the instructor and student on board sustained only minor injuries.

Television station KSAT reports that the two airmen were taken to a nearby medical clinic for evaluation.

Brandi Williams, the resident caretaker at the San Antonio Polo Club said that she saw both pilots eject safely from the aircraft, then heard a loud explosion. She said that the plane did not explode, but seemed to "come down easy." After the incident, the pilot apparently received a phone call and answered normally, Williams said.

The plane was flying out of JBSA-Randolph. Flight training at the 12th Flying Training Wing at Randolph has been suspended until further notice, according to base officials.
