Also Delivers First Shanghai Airlines 757-200PCF

Precision Conversions, LLC announced Monday the company has gained Federal Aviation Administration approval for its Pratt & Whitney-powered B757-200 conversions via Supplemental Type Certificate (ST01529SE).

In conjunction with the FAA certification, Precision Conversions has also received Chinese approval (VSTC141) for the Pratt & Whitney powered B757-200 variants. The conversion was performed on an ILFC owned/Shanghai Airlines-operated aircraft, and represents the industry's first aftermarket conversion and certification of a Pratt & Whitney powered B757-200 freighter.

Upon completion of the test flights on January 4th, the aircraft departed for Shanghai, China to be painted in the Shanghai Airlines livery. Precision Conversions will be performing another conversion on a second ILFC owned/Shanghai Airlines operated aircraft, subsequent to this redelivery.

According to Precision representatives, the company's passenger-to-freighter conversion is the only full 15 pallet position B757-200 freighter available with FAA and CAAC certifications for both Rolls Royce and Pratt & Whitney powered variants. The company initially received FAA certification for the Rolls Royce powered B757-200 conversion on June 3, 2005.

"The converted Shanghai Airlines Pratt & Whitney powered aircraft achieved our consistently low empty weight which will benefit all cargo operators for decades to come."

The Precision Conversions 757-200PCF freighter features 15 full pallet positions in addition to maximum structural payloads of 67,000 to 72,000 pounds (subject to variant) with 6,600 cubic feet of cargo space on its main deck. An additional 1,770 cubic feet of cargo space is available in the lower holds located forward and aft of the wing.

Through optimized design and attention to detailed weight removal, the Precision Conversions freighter has the lowest Operating Empty Weight (OEW) of any other 757 freighter in production today. The 757-200PCF freighter requires only a two-person flight crew and with the high-bypass-ratio engines, the dedicated freighter offers significant operational savings over many older freight-carrying aircraft.
