Massachusetts Young Eagles Flight Rally Scheduled May 15th

EAA Chapter 106 Hosting Event At George Harlow/Marshfield Municipal Airport

Young people ages 8-17 in east-central Massachusetts will have a chance to experience flight Sunday, May 15th, as EAA Chapter 106 hosts a Young Eagles Flight Rally at George Harlow/Marshfield Municipal Airport (KGHG).

The rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program, which since its launch in 1992 has seen volunteer EAA pilots share a flight with more than 1.5 million young people in over than 90 countries. "Free airplane rides are just part of the Flight Rally," said Walsh, spokesman for the event. "We hope to build one-to-one relationships between pilots and young people, giving a new generation a chance to learn more about the possibilities that exist in the world of General Aviation."

Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure that safety is the prime concern before every flight. Following the flight, each young person, will receive a certificate making them an official Young Eagle and many will have their FAA approved logbook filled out by the pilot. Their name will then be entered into the "World's Largest Logbook," which is on permanent display at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, WI. The Logbook is also accessible on the Internet.  Parental or Guardian signed approval must be made on approved documentation before the event or at the event sight.

Along with flight rallies, EAA members also fly Young Eagles on an individual basis. Each pilot volunteers their time and aircraft so the flights can be provided free of charge for interested young people. Those attending the flight rally on May 15th are asked come to Shoreline Aviation at Marshfield Municipal Airport starting at 0900 EDT to register, and flying will begin at 1000. Registration will close at 1400.
