700 Pounds Of Cocaine Seized Friday At O'Hare From Arriving Aeroméxico Flight

Feds Seize $6.7 Million Of Drugs From Cargo Hold

Aeroméxico Flight 668 from Guadalajara, Mexico, to O'Hare International Airport had more than just luggage in its cargo compartment.

US Customs and Border Protection agents found more than 700 pounds of cocaine when the international flight landed at 11 pm Friday, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.

The seizure was one of Chicago's largest drug busts involving air cargo.

The 336 bricks of cocaine, with a street value of $6.7 million, were found during a routine inspection of baggage. The four small cardboard boxes containing the contraband were not included on the cargo manifest, officials said.

The bricks were wrapped in cellophane, soaked in axle grease, and covered with rubber sheeting.

The seizure remains under investigation by special agents from the O'Hare office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, officials said, and no arrests had been made late Saturday.
