OK... SUN ‘n FUN is barely in the rearview mirror, having ended yesterday, but early estimates indicate that the show was a major success... signaling, perhaps, that the long dreary influence of COVID may finally be over. Crowds were good from the start and were constantly active throughout the week... even through Thursday’s rain tantrums. Vendors reported solid results and several major players used SnF22 to make BIG announcements... An Air Tech Quicksilver, on display at SnF22 showed off the Aero 1000 Engine. The engine is a water-cooled 250cc 4 stroke single cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection (EFI). Currently rated fo

SportCruiser LSA Returns!

US Sport Aircraft has entered into a deal to import Czech Aircraft Group's SportCruiser.

The Czech SportCruiser will be making a return to American shores once again, coming back to the market after a few years away. US Sport Aircraft was the original importer of the aircraft from 2006 to 2017, filling the fleet of their training partner, Thrust Flight, with plenty of modern, cost-effective, glass-panel aircraft. The plane may be more familiar to some under its brief stint as the PiperSport, which was imported for a short time in 2011 until the company just as abruptly backed out of the arrangement, apparently disinterested in the light sport aircraft market. That was a boon for US Sport, though, as all that interest in the plane headed

Aero 1000 4 Stroke Ultralight Engine Displayed For The Paradise City Audience

Air Tech Ultralight and Sport Planes Show Up With Something New

Walking by the AT Air Tech Quicksilver on display in the Paradise City area of Sun and Fun you wouldn't know that something interesting and new was going on powerplant-wise if you casually walked by. A more discerning eye might notice something is different, that's not the typical UL power plant and different it is. The Aero 1000 Engine on the Quicksilver is a water-cooled 250cc 4 stroke single cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection (EFI). Currently rated for 500 hours TBO, and it employs a 3.98 ratio belt reduction drive (with a clutch) to deliver its 39hp at 9200 rpm, which allows it to swing large-diameter propellers. It is designed to be a bolt-on replacement for the ubiqu

GAMI Nears Approval of Unleaded Avgas

Just in Time for Avgas Replacement Initiatives, a 12-Year Passion Project Could Solve GA's Biggest Problem

General Aviation Modifications is immensely close to full, fleet-wide certification for their unleaded 100LL replacement. GAMI has been hard at work for the last 12 years to complete development of their G100UL lead-free aviation fuel, now awaiting the final step in the process to bring it to the industry at large. All that stands in the way now, they say, is a signature from the Wichita Aircraft Certification Office that would approve an expanded AML Engine and Aircraft Supplemental Type Certificate. That could happen at any moment, only requiring FAA headquarters to send their authorization.

Delayed 737 Max 10 Certification Causes Headaches

Boeing's Latest Trouble Raises Specter of Costly Delays

Boeing may face an uphill battle getting their Max 10 in under the wire, as the clock runs out on their chance to certify the 737 Max 10 variant without a major flight control system redesign. Oregon representative and leader of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Peter DeFazio said that the FAA shouldn't give the company any more slack on the certification process. “The aircraft certification bill gave the FAA a two-year grace period to certify aircraft without the advanced flight crew alerting system, but that grace period should not be extended,” he said, referring to the soon-to-be-mandatory Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS), which will
