Fifth G700 Aircraft Tops Maximum Operating Speed On First Flight, Achieves Mach 0.935

Gulfstream's fifth G700 flight-test aircraft has taken flight, just three weeks after the fourth G700 flew for the first time. “The G700 flight-test program is progressing exceptionally well,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “Every day, we come closer to our goal of delivering this revolutionary aircraft to our customers. We are steadily increasing flights, flight hours and the completion of numerous company tests, further raising the bar for business aviation around the world.”

AMA Leads FAA Drone Advisory Committee Sub-Group

The Subgroup Met 13 Times And Presented Findings During A DAC Meeting October 22

In February 2020, the FAA asked the Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) for ways to help the drone community to fully adopt the safety culture that is ingrained in manned aviation. In response, the DAC formed four subgroups to provide recommendations for manned operators, recreational UAS operators, small commercial UAS operators, and large commercial UAS operators. AMA led the recreational UAS operator subgroup along with ALPA, AOPA, DJI, Global Drone Academy, and FPV Freedom Coalition. The subgroup met 13 times between March and September and presented their findings during a DAC meeting on October 22, 2020.

ARSA Fights NTSB ALJ On Behalf of Two Denied Repairmen

ARSA Reports That NTSB Denial 'Is Beside the Point'

On Oct. 13, the NTSB denied ARSA’s attempt to intervene in two cases concerning repairman certificate denials. Administrative Law Judge Stephen R. Woody delivered the denial order to Obadal, Filler, MacLeod & Klein, P.L.C., the association’s management firm providing pro-bono assistance in the legal effort. The matters before the board involve a repair station making recommendations supporting repairmen certificates for supervisors with approval for return to service duties. The FAA denied the recommendations. On Aug. 27, OFM&K filed a motion for leave to intervene on ARSA’s behalf.

The Airspeed Indicator Showed About 10 To 15 Knots Past “Blueline”

On October 8, 2020, about 1115 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 414, N8132Q, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at North Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport (F45), West Palm Beach, Florida. The private pilot and six passengers sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.
