Legislators Introduce Much-Needed Flight Training Bills

Bills Prohibit The FAA From Defining Some Flight Training As “Carrying Persons Or Property For Compensation Or Hire”

In the nick of time; twin bills have been introduced in Congress this week to reverse the policy set forth by the FAA in their July 12 policy memo on flight training in Experimental, Limited, and Primary Category aircraft. In the Senate, S.2458 has been introduced by Sens. James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma), John Boozman (R-Arkansas), and Angus King (I-Maine). In the House, Rep. Sam Graves (R-Missouri) is sponsoring H.R.4645. The bills prohibit the FAA from defining flight training in these aircraft as “carrying persons or property for compensation or hire.”

Great Work! EAA Granted Exemption for Flight Training in Limited Category A/C

EAA Earns Their Keep By Addressing A Serious Isssue, Speedily

EAA has been granted a 'sweeping exemption' (and it is, thankfully, that) for flight training in Limited Category aircraft that any owner or operator can use. This exemption allows owners of Limited Category warbirds and their associated pilots and partners to continue training in their own aircraft following the disruptive fallout of the FAA interpretation and associated court ruling on operating certain aircraft for “compensation or hire” earlier this year. Gone West (Updated): One Of The Best Of Us... Dale 'Snort' Snodgrass

Military Jet Jock, Airshow Pilot, All-Around-Great Aero-Guy

OK... we held this one for a bit because we plainly didn't believe it until we had some official verification.... but a true aviation legend has gone west... Dale 'Snort' Snodgrass was lost in a GA accident at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport, about noon, Saturday. Flying a single-engine turbo-prop SIAI-Marchetti SM 1019B, something of a Bird-Dog with a turbine engine, the aircraft departed the runway about noon Saturday and went down shortly after departure. Local sources report that the high-wing bird went down in a nearby field and caught fire after impacting a short way from the airport’s taxiway Charlie, according to a report from Lewiston FD's Chief Travis Mykleb
