Jabiru Celebrates Their 30th Year at AirVenture and 20th in the United States

US Sport Planes Will Distribute Jabiru Aircraft and Engine Separately

By Maria Morrison Jabiru Aircraft and Engines is celebrating their 30th year in operation, this AirVenture. In 1988, they produced a small plastic craft that was to be used as a trainer for ultralight pilots. It was soon certified and marketed. However, no engine worked in that light sport aircraft, so Jabiru began constructing their own. The 60hp Jabiru engine was brought to AirVenture in 1994, and has since been continually upgraded. Jabirus are distributed stateside by US Sport Planes (USSP), and owner Scott Severen honored Pete Krotje at AirVenture this year, who originally brought Jabiru to the United States and is now retiring. Rotor Wing Mixes with Fixed Wing

Lift Air, the German based parent company of Flight Design, announced their acquisition of Rotorvox – an autogyro company. The new company provides composite autogyros to the German market, and will soon be importing to the U.S. The Rotorvox C2A gyrocopter is designed to carry two people and features a twin boom design for exceptional ground stability. Currently Flight design is producing 4 aircraft per month, and also has a new 4 seat version of the CTLS in the works.

One Week Wonder Project Began Monday, is Expected to be Finished Sunday

It started innocently enough... Amid the call and response of “one week” and “wonder!“, a crowd looked on at the pieces of an Van’s RV-12iS lying on workbenches. On Monday morning at 08:00, EAA volunteers set out on an ambitious task: to complete the construction of a RV-12 kit by 14:30 on Sunday. Referred to as the “One Week Wonder,” the project will be completed by the roughly 100 volunteers with ranging experience, five experts leading the build teams, and the assistance of the general public.

Liberatore On Friday the 27th and Saturday the 28th Sanjay Dhall of Detroit Flying Cars will update Airventure attendees of his progress on his WD-1, aka the Wild Dream 1 at the EAA Forums Building at the Aviation Gateway Park.
