German manufacturer ScaleWings has announced their first US showing of their brand new, carbon fiber replica of the P-51 Mustang at this year's Sun 'n Fun 2022. Their rendition of the legendary fighter, the SW-51 is a 70% scale, full-carbon replica, lovingly crafted to strike the perfect balance between capability, replication, and appearance. ScaleWings put as much work as possible into their molds, forms, and designs, making the final product look nothing like the average composite kit plane.

Flight Design F2 Begins Work on Part 23 Certification

EASA CS-23 Paperwork Given to FAA for LSA Evaluation

The Flight Design F2 has completed the first step in its certification process with the FAA with the recent submission of the aircraft's validation request from the EASA. The FAA Small aircraft standards branch in Kansas City, Kansas will determine whether the design of the F2 in its Euro trim conforms to FAA standards. It obtained CS-23 approval from the EASA, leading Flight Design to believe that there should be nothing standing in the way of a nearly turnkey American certification.

The Slovakian Shark 600 has a new distributor in the far north, Sport Aircraft Canada. Sport Aircraft Canada (SAC) has been a fixture of the Canadian aviation scene for more than 20 years, providing avionics, aircraft, and accessories throughout the country. The Shark 600, a lightweight sport plane designed by Shark.Aero, is a low-wing, composite aircraft with tandem seating for 2 which will be imported as requested by the new dealer. The Shark 600 will sport a retractable undercarriage, a Rotax 912, Garmin G3X avionics, and a constant speed propeller.

NTSB Prelim: Flightstar Inc Flightstar II

The “Engine Got Really Loud,” And Then The Airplane Struck The Hangar

On February 24, 2022, about 1145 eastern standard time, a Flightstar II, N194PG, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at Holly Hill Airport (5J5), Holly Hill, South Carolina. The pilot was seriously injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to a witness, he was in his hangar at the airport when he first heard the airplane. Then, he saw the airplane’s shadow on the centerline of the runway before it veered left, the “engine got really loud,” and then the airplane struck the hangar.
